Description

Specification:- Water enters the apparatus through the lower left-hand end and flows horizontally through a sudden enlargement into a transparent venturi meter, and followed by an orifice plate. A 90 degree elbow changes the flow direction to vertical and connects to a variable area meter, a second bend passes the flow into a discharge pipe which incorperates an atmospheric break. A static head at various points in the flow path may be measured on a manometer panel included with the experment. The water flow through the apparatus is controlled by the delivery valve of the Hydraulics Bench and the flow rate may be confirmed by using the volumetric measuring tank of the Hydraulics Bench. Experiments Study of Bernoulli’s equation, flow measurement and losses, including:

  • Application of the Bernoulli equation for incompressible fluids
  • Comparison of pressure drops across each flow measurement device
  • Direct comparison of flow measurement using a Venturi meter, orifice plate and rotameter
  • Comparison of pressure drops across a sudden enlargement and a 90-degree elbow
Essential Base Unit
  • Gravimetric Hydraulic Benchor
  • Volumetric Hydraulic BenchEssential Services
Water supply:
  • Operating environment:Laboratory
  • Storage temperature range: –25°C to +55°C (when packed for transport)
  • From the Hydraulic Bench
  • Operating Conditions
  • Operating temperature range: +5°C to +40°C
  • Operating relative humidity range:80% at temperatures < 31°C decreasing linearly to 50% at40°C
