Description
Pole Climbing Apparatus Manufacturer and Supplier
The pole climbing apparatus is a classic tool in pharmacology and physiology teaching, used to study conditioned avoidance behaviour in small animals and how CNS-acting drugs change it. An animal learns to climb a pole to avoid a mild electrical stimulus; once the response is trained, researchers can see how sedatives, tranquillisers, or anti-anxiety compounds affect learning and reaction.
This improved model has a built-in solid-state buzzer and stimulator that delivers pulsating shocks at 400 V and 0.2 mA, at a frequency of five per second. You can control the duration by hand or leave it to the built-in 30-second timer, and the output can be recorded on a kymograph or polygraph. It runs on 220 V AC.
Where it's used:
- Conditioned avoidance response studies in pharmacology
- Screening CNS, sedative and anti-anxiety drug effects on learning
- Physiology and pharmacology practicals in medical and pharmacy colleges
